Battisford Free Church has a very strong musical tradition, dating right back to its roots, and there are several groups of musicians who lead church services:
Junior Praise Group
Primarily the group is for the young musicians from within the Church. It gives them an opportunity to learn new music and play together as a group.
The Group plays in various services at the Church throughout the year. Instruments include guitar, drums, cornet, clarinet, violin, flute and keyboard.
Praise and Worship Group
The Group enjoys playing a wide range of songs, from the traditional right up to the more recent. They lead worship for the services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
Instruments include guitars, brass, clarinet, violin, drums and keyboard. A small group of singers help to lead worship, and teach new songs.
Battisford Free Church Band
The Band was started around the 1890′s, and steadily grew into a group of musicians with a mix of instruments.
In the late forties, a Mr. George Coates moved into the area and having served many years in Salvation Army Bands he joined the Free Church and formed a Brass Band of 30-plus. Over a period of time the band played in many locations throughout East Anglia.
The Band plays in the services at the Church and other locations by invitation. Thanks to a significant range of Salvation Army music, it has a large repertoire of Christian music, both traditional and modern.
