About us

We are a community of over 100 Christian’s from Battisford and the surrounding villages and towns, who come together to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. We are blessed to have good numbers of all ages and many backgrounds. We’re not a church that only see each other on Sundays; a variety of regular meetings happen on weekdays too, for adults, youth and children.

I am delighted to be the new pastor at Battisford Free Church. After being called as a pastor in while in Leeds in 1984, I ministered in the UK before moving to the Far East, where I served as a pastor and became an international school teacher.

I met my wife Jasmine while teaching in Shanghai and our 7 year old daughter, Holly, was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. Over the last 18 years we have taught and led some wonderful international schools in Tanzania, Shanghai, and Beijing. For the last 7 years we have served in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Jasmine is currently training to become a secondary Maths teacher while Holly speaks Chinese and English and has just began attending School in Stowmarket.

We have found both the church and the people of Battisford to be the friendliest we have ever come across anywhere in our travels. It really is a ‘Joy’ to be here and serve such a kind caring fellowship.

We are looking forward very much God willing, to a long and fruitful ministry serving God in this beautiful corner of His vineyard.

My biography ‘Scot-Free’ The Long Track Leading East, is available on Amazon Books. The follow up ‘Thorns among the Roses’ is due for publishing on Amazon later this year.

Sincerely in Jesus,

Charlie

mEET OUR LEADERS:

Love,
grow,
serve,
go

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love our neighbour as our self, and as a church we try to demonstrate this love in our church.

Our desire is for people to become followers of Jesus Christ and then to grow to be more like Him through the study of God’s word and mutual encouragement.

We aim to serve people to help them discover their gifts and then use them in the work of the church and beyond.

We believe that Jesus calls us to go and share the good news of Him and the hope He offers for the world.
